He saw her. There. Across the high school hall. Her back was leaning against the lockers, she was with her friends. One of her friends told her something that made her laugh. Her head fell back as she laughed out loud. She was Tammy DesChamps. She was beautiful. She was my best friend. And she would never know how I felt about her. Never. I was too scared to lose her over something silly like that.
We’ve been best friends since kindergarten. She tripped and fell, scraping her knee. There was no blood, just a white line on her skin showing where she’d been scratched. And there I was, ready to help her, with my sesame street band-aid in one hand, as I inspected her knee.
“You broke your knee” the little boy said.
“Oh no,” said the little girl who had gotten her knee scratched on the pavement, she felt herself about to cry.
“Don’t worry, I’ll save you” said the boy as he pulled out the purple band-aid with Big Bird's yellow face plastered on it. The young girls face brightened, she trusted this boy with her scrape. To heal her from this broken knee.
The boy expertly ripped the band-aid from the paper wrapping surrounding the purple band-aid that will save this girl.
He removes the paper off the sticky edges of the purple big bird band-aid as he lowers it to the girls knee.
She grew more and more excited as the band aid came closer and closer to her scrape.
Alas, the boy places the sticky edges to the sides of the scratch on this little girls hurt leg. Sliding his fingers once more over the surface of the band aid to make sure it wouldn’t fall off. He kisses her knee, of course everyone knows that a kiss makes everything all better. He looks up to the little girls face; she’s ecstatic.
“You saved me” she whispered incredulously.
“Yup.” said the boy, a proud expression on his face.
“My hero” the girl whispered once more as she took the boys hand in hers.
He pulled her of the ground unto her feet. The girl looked into the boys eyes, her hand still in his. He looked back into eyes. A smile on both their faces.
“I’m Tammy.” She introduced herself.
“Sidney” the boy replied.
“Will you be my friend?” Tammy asked
“I’ll be your best friend.”
“Okay,
“Sid,”
“SID.” He heard the voice again, he knew who’s it was. It was Tammy’s. She was no longer five, not at all. She had grown into a beautiful 16 year old. He smiled at her. “Sid, I’ve been calling your name for the past five minutes.” She complained “ Where’s your mind, dreamer boy?” she asked with a smile tugging at her lips. His smile grew slightly wider. If only she knew. He sighed, looking down. If only. “ey, hey.” Tammy said softly, getting
“Maybeeeee” He said teasingly, a smile playing on his lips. She gave him a playful punch, rolling her eyes once more with a smile on her face. She looked so beautiful when she smiled, he thought to himself. The bell for the next period rang. They both jumped. “SHIT.” Tammy squealed. “LANGUAGE” the two heard a teacher say as she passed them by. “Sorry.” Tammy apologized before she headed for the stair.
“I’m gonna be late for science!” she explained hurriedly. The science class was on the third floor. We were on the first floor. I laughed as she gave me a glare before she ran the stairs to her to her class. I walked into my French class as M.Giroux, the French teacher glared at me as I entered the room. “Vous etes en retard monsieur
I just shrugged as I took my seat.
